The Hubbard Woods PTO involves parents and teachers working together on behalf of the school and its students.  Parent volunteers help create a strong sense of community, provide support to our teachers and staff, and sponsor programs and activities that enrich our children’s educational experience.

This website highlights the work of the PTO with the aim of helping parents navigate their time at the school and feel connected to the school community.

Trex Plastic Recycling

Plastic Bag Recycling at Hubbard Woods School

Hubbard Woods School participates in the Trex Plastic Bag Challenge each year.  This contest is sponsored by Trex, a manufacturer of alternative woods products, which enlists schools each year to assist it collect the plastic bags it uses as raw materials in its products.

The Challenge runs from November 15 (America Recycles Day) to April 15 each school year, with winners announced on April 22 (Earth Day).

The types of plastic bags and wraps listed below are collected through the Trex Plastic Bag Challenge during the school year.  

More importantly, these types of plastic bags and wraps may be recycled at retailers such as The Grand, Mariano’s, Jewel, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Staples, and others all year round!  

All plastics must always be clean, dry, and free of food residue.

  • Case overwrap (water/juice bottles)

  • Newspaper sleeves

  • Wood pellet bags
  • Ziplock and other reclosable bags
